I was up in South Lake Tahoe at Taylor Creek trying to photograph the black bears feeding on the Kokanee salmon. Well, no bears showed up while I was there so I had to photograph other interesting happenings.

There were several Mallard ducks feeding on the spent Kokanee salmon after they spawned which I have never seen a duck do before, especially a Mallard. We have a lot of Mallard ducks here in the Bay Area and I have only seen them feed on the vegetation on the bottom of a shallow waterway. I never did see this particular Mallard drake swallow his prize Kokanee meal…not sure he could get the tail section pass his bill.
